Character: Specialist Cally Henderson (Battlestar Galactica) Materials: Jumpsuit - Orange cotton drill, yellow reflective tape Vest - black rubber Cuffs - black ribbed rubber
Worn to Brisbane Supanova, 2007. I'm a huge fan of the new BSG series, so when I heard that Aaron Douglas (Chief Tyrol) was a guest at Supanova, I knew I had to have a BSG costume! I contemplated the viper pilot costume, but all of my friends agree that I'm a lot like Cally! So the decision was made
The jumpsuit was bought off ebay, I sewed on the reflective tape and the patch. The rubber vest is snapped on at the front and sides, though I still need to add the pockets. My favourite part of the costume (apart from being utterly comfortable and having heaps of pockets) was the weathering! I realised the day of the con that I had completely forgotten about this, so I grabbed a pair of rubber gloves, ran my hands around my tyres and rubed that all over my pants. My butt is particularly dirty (which delighted Mr Douglas I must say!). The dirt on my face is grey eyeliner.
yay! Battlestar Galactica!
Very well done. I bought me a patch, too. Now I'm searching a way to make those typical tops like starbuck wears all the time. It would be great to have: easy to wear when I'm not in another costume.
Hehehe BSG is AWESOME!!! I'd still love to do a pilot's flight suit though
Thank you! Hmmm they're not too hard, though you'll either have to modify or make from scratch. The grey bottom shirt is just a sleeveless tank top, should be relatively easy to find. The top black shirt is basically a racer back t shirt worn backwards. However, you do need to modify the shirt to make it comfortable. My suggestion (as this is what I intend to do) is buy two black tops - one racer back, and the other just a regular tank top. Then stitch the racer back onto the back of the regular top. The problem I had with just wearing a racer backwards was that the front is cut to accomodate the breasts, which makes it uncomfortable when worn backwards. Mine kept riding up and was just annoying. Hope that makes sense!!
Oooh Good luck with it! It's a fun costume, and pretty easy to make! The patches I got from a guy locally in our Costumer's Guild. But I have seen pretty decent ones on Ebay.

Thank you!
